9.Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: What is a cable trunking reducer?
A: A cable trunking reducer is a pre-fabricated fitting used to transition between different widths of cable trunking, allowing smooth cable flow from a larger trunking to a smaller trunking or vice versa. It features a fully enclosed body with removable cover for complete cable protection.
Q2: What is the difference between a concentric reducer and an eccentric reducer?
A: A concentric reducer is centered (both sides taper equally), suitable for overhead runs. An eccentric reducer is offset (one side straight, one side tapers), used for wall-mounted runs to maintain consistent alignment with the wall or reference surface.
Q3: Can a reducer be used for increasing width (small to large)?
A: Yes. Reducers can be used in both directions. When increasing width, pull cables from the smaller trunking into the larger trunking. The smooth taper works equally well in either direction.
Q4: Are covers included with cable trunking reducers?
A: Yes. All Lanye cable trunking reducers come complete with matching removable covers and cover fixing screws or clips.
Q5: Can I use a cable trunking reducer for power and data cables together?
A: Yes. For separation of power and data cables, Lanye recommends using trunking with dividers. Divider-compatible reducers are available with internal slots for continuous separation through the transition.
Q6: What materials are available for cable trunking reducers?
A: Lanye cable trunking reducers are available in pre-galvanized steel, hot-dip galvanized steel, stainless steel 304, and stainless steel 316.
Q7: What is the lead time for custom cable trunking reducers?
A: Standard sizes from Lanye typically ship in 5-7 business days. Custom width transitions, eccentric configurations, or special materials require 10-15 business days.
Q8: How do I support a cable trunking reducer?
A: Install supports within 300mm on each side of the reducer. For large reducers (over 200mm width reduction), install an additional support directly under the reducer midpoint.
Q9: Can I get a sample before placing a large order?
A: Yes. Lanye offers sample cable trunking reducers for customer evaluation. Please contact our sales team to discuss sample requirements, sizes, and lead time.
Q10: Are cable trunking reducers compliant with industry standards?
A: Yes. Lanye cable trunking reducers meet relevant IEC and NEMA standards. CE and ISO 9001 certified.
